so that the plant has sufficient versatility. Other biowaste is received in a pallet box , which means providing sufficient storage capacity and a washing-disinfection line in the plant design for subsequent forwarding to the waste producer. If we stick to the production process, we also encounter different challenges throughout the entire value chain. First of all, it is necessary to guarantee a stable and sustainable supply of organic waste to feed the plants. Partners like Veolia, experts in waste management, can select and supply the most suitable materials. Additionally, these partners must have the logistical capacity to collect and transport large volumes of waste efficiently. Regarding the construction and operation of the plants, actors with specific experience in this type of facilities are required. Biogas has technical particularities that require qualified personnel capable of designing the plants, operating anaerobic digestion or managing the upgrade process to biomethane, among others. Having this expert knowledge is key to maximizing production, operating stably and efficiently, and complying with strict safety regulations. Last but not least, these partners can provide valuable insight into regulations and policies relating to waste management and biogas production, which is especially useful in an ever-changing environment.
With vision, ambition and specialization, our country can - and must - position itself at the forefront of this renewable source: we have the potential, but we must build on solid foundations. At Veolia we lead the way in methanization, with experience in managing more than 130 biowaste recovery units around the world , having developed standard biowaste pretreatment and storage solutions - even in markets that currently lack them. With this, we add a capacity of 2.8 million tons of biowaste per year, which we currently operate worldwide CZ Leads to design our new plants. Only with adequate multidisciplinary knowledge will it be possible to design, build and operate efficient and sustainable plants that contribute to the ecological transformation and decarbonization of our country at the lowest possible cost. At Veolia, we have the experience and capabilities necessary to make the potential of biogas and biomethane a reality. With vision, ambition and specialization, our country can - and must - position itself at the forefront of this renewable source: we have the potential, but we must build on solid foundations. The path begins today, with the right alliances. It is the responsibility of the administrations to promote this type of collaboration, facilitating the regulatory framework and economic conditions; But it is also our task to seek the best partners, like Veolia, and foster alliances that provide knowledge, resources and lasting strategic value.
The use in certain sectors also generates a national reality that translates into the existence of at least two real BioLNG projects with scheduled start-up dates. The elimination of the greatest limiting factor of the projects – the distance of the waste from the gas distribution network – is, therefore, essential to boost the sector decisively. To do this, the system that promotes injection among project promoters must be established in detail; that regulates the right to inject biomethane; that establishes assessed and reduced grid injection costs (investment and operation); and that guarantees the investment of the system in all the necessary Reverse Flow . On this last point, the current situation generates an incomprehensible contradiction: can we imagine requiring gas producers to pay for our pumping infrastructure for the gas we buy from them? Well, it turns out that the producers of that same gas – renewable and without net emissions today – are being demanded. I insist again: the problem does not matter, the solution matters; and, in the case of biomethane, we may already have one that is proving to be effective. In the coming months we will see if we all make progress to promote the evolution of the sector.
